Txema Salvans is a Spanish photographer based in Barcelona. Salvans is known for his work in conveying themes of isolation and exploring the interactions between people and their surroundings.

My Kingdom offers a keen insight into contemporary Spanish society and the dynamics of power in Salvans' native country. The book combines black-and-white photographs with a speech by the former King of Spain, Juan Carlos I. This juxtaposition serves as a socio-political filter, contrasting the King's dogmatic language and the realities of everyday life. Furthermore, the book includes extracts from speeches by various key figures, revealing the authoritarian power of the state over its people, along with a postcard featuring a photograph of a teleprompter, which highlights the scripted nature of these addresses.

This idea of structured speech became central to the design approach. The layout mimics the simple typographic style seen on a teleprompter, featuring white text on a black background, with line breaks, pacing, and specific words that reflect the way a speech is delivered. This typographic treatment reinforces the contrast between the controlled voice of the monarchy and the unfiltered moments in the photographs.
